Last night I watched a wonderful and inspiring (despite the subject matter) movie called, “Don’t Look Up”.
This movie prompted a question that I often ask people…
When did you last ‘look up’?
The Netflix movie Don’t Look Up is a about two astronomers who discover a massive comet headed straight for Earth.
The movie is a cautionary tale about the dangers of misinformation, and the importance of speaking out against injustice. But it is also a reminder of the beauty and wonder of the universe, and the importance of ‘looking up’ and seeing the things that matter most.
But the truth is, there’s so much to see and experience if we just take the time to look up. In the movie Don’t Look Up, we see the importance of looking up in a literal sense, as the astronomers try to warn the world about a comet headed straight for Earth – but the movie also encourages us to look up in a more figurative sense, to see the things that most people simply are too engaged in their phones and their lives to even notice.
Look up and see the world in a new way
When we look up, we see the world in a new way. We see the vastness of the universe and our place in it. We see the beauty of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. We also see the challenges that we face as a planet and the need to work together to solve them.
When we look up, we open ourselves up to new possibilities. We see the world in a new way and we connect with something deeper than ourselves – we look up, and see the beauty and wonder of the world around us.
So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed or lost, take a moment to look up. Put down your phone and step outside. Look at the stars, the trees, the birds. Notice the small yet beautiful things around you. And remember that you are not alone in this world. We are all in this together.
